Buying guide: what do you look for when buying a grill pan?
If you’re going to buy a new grill pan, you need to make a number of decisions:
- What is your budget? There are grill pans as little as 20 euros, but remember that a more expensive top-quality grill pan will last a lifetime.
- How big should your grill pan be? Most grill pans have a diameter of between 25 and 30 cm. If you want to bake pizzas in it, the pan should be at least 30 cm.
- Which material is best? Cast iron grill pans can get very hot, while aluminium pans are light and therefore easy to handle. Grill pans with non-stick coating are easy to clean.
- Do you also want to use the grill pan in the oven? Then it is handy if the – often wooden – handle is removable.
