A frying pan, also known as a sauté pan or sauté pan, is one of the most versatile pans you can have in your kitchen. Like a wok pan, it is suitable for quick preparations, but also for simmering dishes. For meals like risotto and paella, for example, this pan is ideal. Don’t have a frying pan in your home (yet)? The pan has a familiar appearance:  as it strongly resembles a frying pan. The big difference is that the rim is a lot higher. Diameters of 24 or 28 centimetres are considered the most common sizes. Larger and smaller sizes also exist, of course.

The difference between a frying pan and a frying pan

We briefly mentioned the main difference between the frying pan and the frying pan above: the raised rim. As heat cannot escape as easily as with sloping sides, food reaches a higher temperature. In addition, most frying pans come with a lid. Together with the pan’s raised sides, this ensures that heat and moisture are retained in the pan for longer. This helps with boiling away water.

The difference between a frying pan and a casserole

There are also some differences between a frying pan and a skillet. Casseroles are primarily made of other materials, such as cast iron and cast aluminium. These allow the heat to be retained for even longer. This makes a casserole the most suitable pan for preparing stews and slow cooking.

The practical advantages of a frying pan

The handy thing about a frying pan is that it prevents you from easily scooping ingredients over the edge. For example, if you prepare a rice dish in a frying pan, grains of rice regularly disappear over the edge while ladling and then stick to your hob. With a frying pan, you don’t run into that problem. Do you have a frying pan that includes a lid? In most cases, the lid is made of glass. This ensures that you can easily glance at your dish while cooking without having to lift the lid.

What material is a frying pan made of?

In the vast majority of cases, a frying pan is made of aluminium or stainless steel (SS). The vast majority have a non-stick coating. This layer on the bottom of the pan makes food much less likely to stick.

Cleaning the pan

A frying pan is easy to clean. Most of them can be cleaned in the dishwasher, although it is advisable to wash them by hand. Ideally, you should use a dish brush and regular detergent. By washing the pan by hand, you extend its lifespan.

Hap pans in a wide variety of shapes and sizes

Anyone looking to buy a frying pan would do well to take the time to look around. There are plenty of options today. Not only in terms of size, but also in terms of extras such as cold handles or a pour-off system. It is important to purchase one that best suits your wants and needs, so that you get maximum benefits.
